How Many Carbs On Atkins Diet – If you have been following my blog, you are most likely on a sugar free diet and many of you are also low carb. But I think many of you who follow me are not on a keto diet, so I posted about the variations that might be needed.

I have been on a low carb diet for the past four years. What I mean by low carb may differ from yours as there is no one size fits all. Everyone’s body reacts differently to the amount of carbohydrates they eat each day.

It is commonly understood that a low-carb diet is one where your carbohydrate intake is less than 150 grams per day, but others say that less than 100 grams is better. My low carb diet is mostly carbs from vegetables and fruits and my range is between 50-70 grams a day.

I am very high in protein and very low in fat. This is great because I’m maintaining my weight but not losing enough to see the firmness, tone and muscle I want to achieve. I watched a workout twice a week for a total body workout last year, but I wasn’t happy with my body’s response. When you’re on a low-carb diet, you can certainly lose weight, but you’re still using glucose (sugar) from the carbs you eat to fuel your body. This means you need to eat frequently every 3-4 hours because you are hungry and you need glucose to function throughout the day.

While the keto diet may seem extreme to some of you at only 20 net carbs per day, which is about 5% of your daily food intake, there are even less! Actually, I refused to try it for a long time, years, really, realizing that low carb would be too difficult for me because I love my vegetables.

Fast Foods You Can Eat On A Low Carb Diet

Protein is a moderate approach of 15-25% of your daily diet. If you weight train and are active like me, 20-25% is ideal. If you live a more sedentary lifestyle, you may not need as much as 15-20% protein.

When I first heard that, I was like, “You’re kidding me, no, I’m definitely going to gain weight!” I was completely wrong and mistaken. I think we’ve all been used to hearing for years that fat makes you fat! That is the furthest thing from the truth. Let’s not blame the butter for what the bread did. Sugar and carbohydrates are to blame for weight gain among other health problems.

Once you start eating this low-carb diet, your body will become keto-friendly. You are hungry for carbohydrates, so you need to find a source of fuel. There is some controversy about how many carbs a day will get you into ketosis, but the 20-30 range is a good start. When you are in ketosis, your body no longer has the carbohydrates it once used to fuel your body. You must use your own body fat for fuel. This is amazing because you will lose body fat if that is your goal and you will see many other benefits below.

How A Low Carb Diet Might Aid People With Type 1 Diabetes

This can take days to weeks to months, everyone is different. Since I’ve been low carb for a few years, I really thought I could get into ketosis in a few days, that didn’t happen. It took almost a month!

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, if you really want to make sure you are in ketosis, I recommend buying a glucometer which is a blood test. A simple kiss on your finger with a ketone strip to measure. Anywhere from 0.5 and up means you are mostly Keto optimized. Of course, it is not the cheapest, but it is the most accurate measurement. There are also other methods, such as the use of urine ketone strips, but I don’t think they are correct. There’s also a breath ketone meter if you don’t like the idea of ​​smelling blood.

You will find that it is not as difficult as you think if you are just starting out. Keep it high fat and you’ll be full and never hungry. My recipes are low carb although some are not as low as others. If you look at my recipes, sticking to less than 10 net carbs per serving will fit your macros for the keto lifestyle!

My video above explains in detail what I did for 6 weeks. But basically you can see the result in the picture below. It may not be as dramatic as I’d hoped at 6 weeks and I may have to change a few things in the next few weeks if I don’t see results, but overall I’m happy with my small improvement.

Are you crazy I couldn’t believe it myself until I saw this photo of my midsection! I was really surprised how much I only lost 2.4 pounds in 6 weeks and only half a percent in body fat. But it seems the keto diet is paying off. I feel good. I look leaner and toned and I’m motivated to keep going, even though I’m not one of those people who lose crazy weight in a short amount of time. I follow it for the health benefits I mentioned above, but I also feel great in my size 6 jeans!

Maintaining a healthy weight has never been easier for me. I have struggled with sugar addiction and weight gain since I was a teenager. I can’t lose “pounds” but just looking at these results the scale number is just one measurement and the body fat number is more important to me.

It’s worth it and I hope you’ll be encouraged to do something different in your life if you’re at a plateau or just unhappy. You can’t keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
