One of the advantages of a late-release game on a particular piece of hardware is that the public consensus has had some time to settle. In November of last year, Pat called Rise of the Tomb Raider “a real technical breakthrough in single-player third-person action games” and a “major achievement”. That’s high praise indeed, and it’s proven true – Rise of the Tomb Raider is still well-received a year later.

I wonder how Rise of the Tomb Raider’s PS4 launch will go then – once the Xbox One exclusive is released, it’ll be like a post-Uncharted 4 world. Still, Rise is a great game, and it probably is. A reboot allowed for Lara Croft to properly rise from Nathan Drake’s shadow.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider Ps4 Box Art Looks A Lot Like Uncharted

“There’s so much to do, including old and new content that’s great for PS4 owners.”

The Uncharted influence is still present in the dizzying cutscenes and perhaps a few too many sequences where you lean forward and watch things crash, explode and generally go bad for poor Lara, but Rise of the Tomb Raider also uses its group mode. is more of research. gameplay, and that alone is enough to take you from a boring, cutscene-filled path to something more interesting.

The Pet’s 2015 review is amazing and still so relevant, so I won’t talk about what I consider Rise of the Tomb Raider to be a base game. You can read its review.

I’ll give you a little recap: I think it’s great, and while its story delivery isn’t as polished and its visuals aren’t up to par, I’ll say (whisperingly) that I preferred Rise to the fourth Uncharted. . . It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s a really good action adventure novel.

Tomb Raider, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, And Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Free On Epic Games Store

That being said: What about this PS4 version? What’s new in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20th Anniversary?

At its base level, it’s the standard Definitive Edition bundle that includes all the additional DLC from the original Xbox One and PC editions. Also, there is brand new content. There’s still a lot of work to be done, including old and new content that makes it a great value for PS4 owners. The big new content is Blood Ties, another side story that takes place only in Croft Manor, Lara’s legendary home that is the center of some classic PS1 games.

Croft Manor seems like the perfect place to return for the PS4 release and the series’ 20th anniversary. Although the series is a reboot, this addition is seen as a way to add to Lara’s story. All of this is also playable on PlayStation VR if you prefer.

Blood Ties is a well-written narrative that surprisingly but refreshingly reflects the realistic gameplay, especially the fanservice.

He disappeared home, but Tomb Raider. Lara wanders around her mansion on a stormy night and discovers documents that shed new light on her parents’ relationship and others behind the scenes. There are hidden maps to help you find less obvious details. It takes a few hours at most, but the mansion is full of details. Blood Ties is a well-written story that surprisingly, but refreshingly, reflects actual gameplay and fanservice.

Crystal Dynamics will keep the new Croft Manor map from moving forward by reworking it for another major addition, Lara’s Nightmare. It’s basically a mini-zombie mode where you fight your way through mansions in a similar style to the campaign missions that were part of the original game. It’s also a fun thing to do, although considering you’ll spend over 18 hours fighting enemies in the main game, it’s not as interesting or refreshing as the very different Blood Ties.

In addition to these major additions to the game, Lara also has some surprisingly tasty characters that look similar to her on PS1, a new difficulty level, and the ability to play the game’s endurance mode. Endurance was later added to the original versions and is a solid attempt to combine survival game concepts with Rise of the Tomb Raider mechanics.

These add-ons are also available as regular DLC for the PC and Xbox One versions of the game, although the VR version of Blood Ties is currently exclusive to the PlayStation Store.

As for the quality of work done to bring the game to PS4: it’s good. There’s really not much to say – the game ran pretty well on the Xbox One, but if that leaves the framerate, it’s still at a solid 30fps here. The game looks very similar to its Xbox One counterpart and is clearly worse than the PC version, but for those who haven’t played it before it appears to be a solidly made version of the game.

After all, it is a headline. This is a solidly made version of a very good video game. Lara Croft has felt dated and out of step with other video games over the years, but Rise of the Tomb Raider makes a clear statement on its 20th anniversary: Lara is back. It depends. And it won’t go away. Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration Edition, PS4 release date announced. The new content will also be available for Xbox One and PC players.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

The 20 Year Celebration Edition will feature a new Extreme Survivor difficulty for Base Camp as well as three new pieces of playable content. The first is Blood Ties, a non-combat narrative story where Lara explores Croft Manor to discover new information about her family. The PlayStation 4 will only offer PlayStation VR support for Blood Ties, which is played in first-person using a headset instead of the standard third-person perspective.

A separate zombie-filled combat chapter, Lara’s Nightmare, will also take place in the mansion, where Lara will battle enemies in a hellish version of her family’s home.

The final new mode for the 20th Anniversary Edition is a new generic version of Endurance mode, where players try to last as long as possible while keeping an eye on their heat and hunger gauges. The longer you continue, the more experience you gain, but if you fail to successfully reach the extraction point and escape, you lose everything.

Finally, Lara Croft’s classic polygon models will be playable as expedition modes, along with new cold weather suits inspired by Tomb Raider III.
